Lodge at the Ancient City
Lodge at the Ancient City is a luxury lodge built on a granite outcrop with views across a valley of Msasa trees towards the ancient ruined city of Great Zimbabwe.
Accommodation comprises 15 spacious lodges with twin double beds and four family lodges. All have en-suite facilities including shower and bath.
The lodge has considerable character and a particular feature is the spectacular stone and thatch lounge and bar set high on a granite outcrop. Massive boulders and trees form part of the structure and guests can enjoy views of the Great Enclosure. The central areas also include an outside dining area and swimming pool.
Activities include a guided tour of Great Zimbabwe with an expert historical guide and a boat cruise on Lake Mutirikwi.
Scenic drives and walks around Lake Mutirikwi and into an adjacent tribal area are also available. The north-eastern shores of Lake Mutirikwi are a National Park and boating trips in search of white rhinocerous, hippo, crocodile and various antelope and bird species can be booked at the lodge.
