Chongwe River Camp
Chongwe River Camp is situated on the confluence of the Chongwe and Zambezi Rivers, directly opposite Mana Pools, on the boundary of the Lower Zambezi National Park.

In a beautiful location under a canopy of huge winterthorn acacia trees, the camp looks onto the confluence of the two rivers and the mountains of the Zambezi escarpment to the north. Chongwe River Camp is a family owned and run business, with an informal and friendly atmosphere.

The six twin or double-bedded chalets are large, well-appointed Mulati tents under thatch. The luxury open-air en-suite bathrooms are an experience on their own. Shower under the stars or the early morning sunshine. All fittings are made from natural materials found near the lodge.

The camp feels very much part of the bush and elephant are often seen crossing the river in front of camp. Relaxing in the sitting area overlooking the Zambezi, you can see a constant procession of game coming down to drink as well as over 250 species of birds.

Exceptional game viewing opportunities are available in this area, either by open safari vehicle, on foot or by canoe and motorboat. Both day and night drives are available. Walking and canoeing are specialities at this camp and half and full day outings can be arranged. With sufficient notice, overnight trips into the mountains or onto one of the islands can also be organised.
