Trip Summary | Mfuwe Lodge | Chamilandu Bush Camp | Chindeni Bush Camp | Bilimungwe Bush Camp | Locations

This special safari with the Bushcamp Company offers adventurers the thrill of a walking safari, combined with the remote luxury of three small exclusive bush camps in the South Luangwa National Park. An opportunity to view and experience the bush in its most untouched and virginal forms, whilst enjoying refreshing hot showers and exceptional hospitality.

Day 1: You will be met at Lusaka airport and transferred onto a light aircraft to Mfuwe International Airport where a representative from the Bushcamp Company or Mfuwe Lodge will meet you and drive you in an open landrover to Mfuwe Lodge.

Mfuwe Lodge is a luxurious Lodge situated inside the South Luangwa National Park. The lodge is open all year round and is surrounded by an excellent all weather road network, which allows for extensive game viewing by vehicle.  You have time for a night drive, before dinner and overnight at Mfuwe Lodge.

Days 2-3: The next morning you transfer by road to Chamilandu Bush Camp where you spend the first two nights of your walking safari exploring the ebony groves and ox bow lagoons. Chamilandu offers the connoisseur comfort, class and beauty in one of the Luangwa's prime river venues.

Chamilandu has a 180° open vista and the front of each tree house chalet provides the exciting frame for all of the Luangwa Valley’s diversity. A series of seven ox-bow lagoons yield dramatic habitat changes and attract an abundance of wildlife.

Days 4-5: After an early breakfast at Chamilandu, set off on your walking trail to Chindeni Bush Camp, arriving in time for a hearty brunch.

At Chindeni you will spend two nights viewing the game from your own private raised wooden decking over the still waters of the lagoon and exploring the evergreen forests on foot. Surrounded by majestic hills, shaded by ancient ebonies and nestled on the apex of an ox-bow lagoon, Chindeni helps weave the spell that is Africa.

Chindeni will stand proud in your memory as a place of magic.

Days 6-7: Walking south once more, towards the confluence of the Kapamba and Luangwa rivers, Bilimungwe Bush Camp holds the distinction of being the southernmost camp in the National Park.

Bilimungwe offers not only the solitude you have come to enjoy, but also the ideal opportunity to discover yet another face of the Luangwa Valley, exploring on foot or in a vehicle. The permanent water hole is a popular venue for wildlife and the shallow clear Kapamba River offers the perfect setting to cool down, relax and reflect on the Luangwa encounter that you have just experienced.
