Our main focus has historically been the countries we know intimately and which offer a truly special safari experience: Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Over time our guests have asked us to add new destinations and we now also arrange itineraries throughout most of Southern and East Africa.
In this section we aim to provide plenty of useful information on many of the individual countries we cover: Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia, Kenya and Mozambique…so please enjoy reading about the myriad of options available to you for your trip of a lifetime. Each country has something different to offer and you will most likely discover that one or two of the destinations suits you more than the others.
For each country we have considered why you should visit that country over and above the others, what differentiates it? Then When to Go, what is the best time for your visit (don’t always feel that peak season is the only time to travel – great value and excellent experiences are on offer out of season). Getting Around gives you an idea of the various flight options – and which countries combine well on an itinerary. We also include sections on Visas & Health and Money Matters & Security, with links to various official organisations which have up to date advice and information. These sections are more likely to be of use prior to departure than when planning your trip. Each country also has a Gallery of images, showing some of our favorite areas and accommodation options.
It is important when planning a safari to be honest with yourself about what you and your travelling companions will feel comfortable with. Sometimes it is exhilarating to push ourselves out of our comfort zone – at times on safari we are all out of our comfort zones – but it is also important to know your limits. Don’t ruin your trip of a lifetime by opting for a canoe safari down the Zambezi when really you hanker for the air conditioned luxury of a lodge in South Africa.
