Our most luxurious and exclusive Botswana itinerary, combining a selection of superb lodges in Botswana. Starting with the game-rich Linyanti Reserve in Botswana, you move onto the private Jao concession in the Okavango Delta, finishing with big-game viewing in the Moremi Game Reserve. The ultimate safari experience!
Days 1-3: You will be met at Maun Airport for your light aircraft charter to Kings Pool Camp, located in the private 125,000 hectare Linyanti Wildlife Reserve which borders the western boundary of Chobe National Park. You spend three nights at this highly luxurious lodge.
Each tented room is built on a raised teak deck and has a large bedroom, lounge area, private plunge pool and a sala. The en-suite bathrooms include both indoor and outdoor showers. Each tent enjoys views of the hippo-filled lagoon in front of the camp. Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives and sometimes guided walks. Boat rides are subject to water levels in the river.

A highlight here is a nearby underground hide. When seated in the hide your eyes are just above water level and it's not unusual to have elephants feet and trunks almost within touching distance.
The area is rich in wildlife, with a wide variety of species, but it is most noted for its very large elephant populations, which can reach enormous densities during the winter months. There are good populations of impala, lechwe, kudu, zebra, giraffe, sable, waterbuck, buffalo and the smaller plains antelope. The major predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena are regularly sighted. The reed and papyrus swamps are ideal for numerous and diverse species of birds and are a magnet for game in the dry winter months.
Days 4-5: A transfer by light aircraft to Jao Camp, situated in the private Jao Concession on a remote large island, to the west of the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Across the waterway in front of the camp, guests have access to open floodplains and savannah for a wonderful Okavango experience.
Your two nights at Jao will be in one of the nine unique and beautiful twin-bedded canvas and thatched rooms built under a canopy of shady trees. Each has a luxury en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, along with a "sala" for guests to enjoy midday siestas with a view and a breeze. The rooms are raised off the ground and offer excellent views of the floodplains. Activities include mokoro (dug-out canoe) excursions, boating, fishing, day and night game drives and guided walks.

The area is extremely seasonal, with game viewing depending on the time of year and the water levels in the Okavango. The lagoons are home to hippo and crocodile and the permanent waterways and floodplains attract large numbers of waterfowl. In the permanent waters, Sitatunga can be tracked silently by mokoro.
From October to March the waters subside revealing extensive green open plains. Game viewing is at its most diverse at this time. Lion, cheetah and leopard are plentiful, while tsessebe, red lechwe, zebra, giraffe, warthog and wildebeest dot the flood plains. Large herds of buffalo move in and out of the reserve at will. Night drives are good for spotting creatures not often seen such as porcupine, spotted hyena, pangolin, spring hares, bushbabies, civet and genets.
During the winter months, water levels rise and the savannah areas become inundated with water. Huge herds of lechwe can be found on the floodplains and the lion prides are adept at hunting and drowning their prey in the water. Leopards are still often seen and elephants are more prevalent. Plains game such as impala, zebra, wildebeest and tsessebe stick to the dry islands. During this time the focus at Jao switches more to water activities with limited game drives on the larger islands. A greater choice of activities is also possible at this time of year due to these higher water levels.
Days 6-7: A transfer by light aircraft to Little Mombo, located near the northern tip of Chief's Island within the Moremi Game Reserve. The camp offers abundant big game viewing that is arguably the best in Botswana.
Two nights are spent in luxury tents with en-suite facilities. A private veranda gives views of the surrounding game-filled plains. Activities comprise morning and afternoon game drives in open 4x4 vehicles.

The highlight here is the concentration of plains game and all the predators - including the big cats - with lion sightings being particularly good. Guests could also see leopard, large herds of buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, elephant, white and black rhino, hyena, giraffe, wildebeest and zebra. Birdlife is prolific, with waterfowl and waders being particularly common.
Day 8: Enjoy a final morning activity at Little Mombo before your departure by light aircraft to Maun Airport to connect with your onward travel arrangements.
