Trip Summary
An African journey incorporating some of the unique habitats within Botswana. From the Okavango Delta, where you can walk with elephants, to the game rich Chief's Island in Moremi Game Reserve and finally a luxurious retreat at Chobe National Park. This is an ideal trip for those guests wanting some home comforts on their safari - and maybe even a hairdryer!
Days 1-2: You will be met at Maun airport for your light-aircraft transfer to Stanley's Camp where you spend two nights.
Set in an amphitheatre of ebony and sausage trees on the southern tip of Chief’s Island, Stanley’s Camp sits amidst 260 000 acres of untamed African Bush. Bordering the southern section of the famous Moremi Game Reserve, this private concession is located in seasonal Delta. This small luxury camp consists of just eight elegantly appointed safari tents raised on wooden decking.
Stanley's Camp offers some of the best game viewing in the Okavango Delta, including the rare and elusive wild dog. Activities include serene mokoro canoe excursions (subject to water levels), exclusive bush dinners, and game drives in customised, open-sided 4x4 vehicles - including the opportunity of night drives. Guests also have the option of walking safaris with an armed professional guide.
A unique and educational experience with a group of semi-habituated African elephants is also available at Stanley's (at additional cost). Spend a day walking with the elephants to observe and interact with them in their natural environment.
Days 3-4: A light air transfer brings you to Chief's Camp, situated on Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve. In this "predator capital of Africa", wild dog, lion, cheetah and leopard abound, and guests enjoy exceptional opportunities to interact with this amazing environment.
Twelve secluded, permanent luxury bush pavilions are designed for ultimate privacy and comfort, and to offer you a front row seat for this rich and rewarding African adventure. Each pavilion features a thatched roof, spacious seating area, en-suite facilities with indoor and outdoor shower as well as a private game viewing deck with hammock and deck chairs.
Game viewing opportunities include daily excursions in open-sided 4x4 vehicles and quiet mokoro excursions along narrow Delta channels during the flood season (subject to water levels). Expert guides are always on hand to offer a wealth of wildlife knowledge, to help you make the most of these rare and wonderful opportunities.
Days 5-6: A transfer by light aircraft to Kasane airport for your road transfer to Chobe Chilwero, on the border of Chobe National Park. Chilwero means “place of high view” in the local language, Setswana. The lodge sits above the Chobe River and offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia.
Chobe Chilwero comprises fifteen spacious bungalows, each with an en-suite bathroom with a modern bath, indoor and outdoor showers, private garden with hammock and “sala” or private balcony.
Enjoy guided game drives in open-sided 4X4 vehicles that bring you to the heart of Africa's largest dry-season concentration of elephants, as well as hippos, buffalos, puku, antelope, lions and other creatures that gather on the banks of the Chobe River. Or join your guide on a wondrous water safari on specially adapted motorboats. Sundowner cruises are particularly spectacular on the Chobe River.
Day 7: Return by road to Kasane to connect with your onward travel arrangements.
