Deception Valley Lodge
Deception Valley Lodge is a unique and luxurious safari lodge located in the Central Kalahari. A particular highlight here is the opportunity to interact with the Bushmen of the Kalahari.
Accommodating a maximum of ten guests, the lodge is private and restful. The twin-bedded rooms have an ethnic African theme and are furnished in vibrant and rustic colours. Each room has an en-suite Victorian style bathroom, an outside shower and a private spacious lounge. Hairdryers, shaving plugs and bathrobes are standard, as are ceiling fans, mosquito nets and private mini-bars. The rooms are positioned separately on stilts and each is connected with the main lodge by a wooden walkway.
The main lodge consists of a dining room, lounge and bar area decorated in warm Kalahari colours - making use of Bushmen and other African artefacts. The deck overlooks a nearby water hole. There is also an inviting swimming pool as well as a boma for night time meals.
Activities include day and night games drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles, nature walks with experienced guides and bird watching from the deck at the main lodge or in a hide at one of the water holes. The highlight is a guided walk with the Bushmen to explore their culture, survival and hunting skills and their extraordinary knowledge of the veld and animal life. Other specialized walks – exploring the survival of plant, animal and man in this arid semi desert – are also offered by prior arrangement.
